Proverbs 31:10-31 It comes as a shock to women in our culture of feminism that God has designed the sexes primarily with their family roles in mind. Not every man or woman will have a family, but in God’s good design and plan, the vast majority of men and women will and should, and must cultivate godly and biblical attributes with God’s design in view.
As we consider this virtuous woman of Proverbs 31, we understand that there are a variety of possible interpretations. Some have understood this virtuous woman to represent the ideal of wisdom, and we do see wisdom anthropomorphically pictured as a woman throughout the book; others see Christ allegorically pictured; and others would see the future church. I believe the best hermeneutical structure is to avoid hyper-theologizing this text, and simply view this text as a list of noble attributes to which women everywhere must aspire.
