2 Peter 1:1-11
Last week we considered the basis of the Christian life, which is the salvation by faith that has been purchased for us with the blood of Jesus Christ. This week we would like to carefully examine the essential virtues that Peter lists for us as the natural fruit of faith in Jesus Christ.
At the end of our study last Sunday, we looked at the initial attribute of diligence that one must possess in order to grow in these essential character traits. Strong and godly character is never developed by accident or chance! It is the result of constant effort, yielding to the Holy Spirit, and deliberately aligning our lives with the Scriptures. So we are called to consciously work at the character traits which Peter will list in the text.
