1 Corinthians 11:6-16
Last week we considered Paul’s opening statements on gender. Briefly and theologically stated, Paul argued that because God made man and woman distinct from one another, and designed them to have a leader-follower relationship, based on God’s own relationship with himself within the Godhead, that men and women ought to look distinctly different from one another, particularly within the corporate worship of the church. We also examined the specific meaning of these head coverings, and discovered that they had major implications with reference both to the sexual distinction and sexual availability of women in particular.
