Mark 3:20-35 This text contains the much-discussed “unforgivable sin” passage. In the larger text, two false assertions are made of Jesus: he is crazy, and he is demon-possessed. Both of these assertions are made by those who should have quickly recognized him as Messiah. As the scribes condemn Jesus for being demon-possessed, he shows the foolishness of such a statement, and condemns the sin which God will not forgive- resisting and blaspheming the work of the Holy Spirit. In our own day, those who refuse to agree with the conviction and illumination of the Holy Spirit with regard to revealed truth are committing the same sin.
