Our lives are characterized by busyness, and in many ways, this is simply the reality of 21st century American culture. Women are busy, and mothers are very busy, particularly if they work outside the home. Home responsibilities never go away! There are always babies to feed, diapers to change; and if your family has outgrown this stage, there are still never-ending piles of laundry and dishes, not to mention a house that doesn’t clean itself!
While we are busy, and have many responsibilities piling up, no one is blessed with endless amounts of time and energy. Time is strictly limited to 24 hours a day, and our energy level fluctuates. So in the midst of the busyness of life, how do we, and particularly how do women, do it all? The fact is very simply that we can’t do it all; you and I must choose what to do and what not to do.
As we examine the text, we discover four lessons regarding biblical priorities that we must learn from the example of Mary and Martha.
