The Triumph of Evil

Mark 6:14-29 ┬áJohn the Baptist was an exceedingly good and godly man. Moreover, he was fearless in preaching righteousness. Yet his boldness brought him to the attention to men in power, men who were in power because of their wickedness. John and Herod lived in two very different, irreconcilable moral spheres. Thus, John’s boldness led to his death. But John possessed something which Herod lacked, which Herod greatly desired and feared- integrity before God and man. Evil may triumph for a while, but the righteousness of Christ will endure forever.
