Colossians 2:1-7 We have seen that Paul was tremendously motivated to share the gospel message with Gentiles all over the Roman empire- he truly was the apostle to the Gentiles. But why was he so incredibly motivated? Simply for this reason- the gospel message is the message of truth, and is therefore superior to every other message or philosophy of man. We see a number of references to wisdom and knowledge in ch. 1-2 (see vs. 9, knowledge, wisdom, spiritual understanding; vs. 26-27 mystery; 2:2-3 understanding, knowledge, mystery, wisdom, knowledge, 2:8 philosophy). Paul was using this sort of terminology to relate to the Greek mentality and obsessive pursuit of wisdom.
