1 Corinthians 12:28-13:7
At the end of ch. 12, Paul makes a profound statement about the nature of the spiritual gifts- while all are good and right, and gifts from the gracious hand of God, some are inherently preferable to others. Not all Christians can possess the same gift! Paul has compellingly argued that we need all different sorts of gifts in the body of Christ, for the body to function correctly. But as Paul comes to the end of the chapter, he introduces his topic in ch. 13 with this very powerful thought- there is in fact, something better than all the gifts, and that better thing is absolutely available to every single Christian. That better thing is what we will consider today.
