1 Corinthians 13:4-13
Paul is in the middle of his great and impassioned homily on the priority of godly love. He has thoroughly considered the matter of the spiritual gifts in ch. 12, and in the first three verses of ch. 13, has compared godly love favorably, in every way, to the spiritual gifts. The spiritual gifts are important! They are even essential! But not every person can possess every gift- to each, God gives his own gift. But every person can, and must, demonstrate godly love- and Paul most strongly emphasizes this point in our text today.
