1 Corinthians 15:29-34
Paul has just finished a triumphant section in the text where he explains the kingly reign of Jesus Christ, as the visible extension of the sovereignty of Almighty God. Now he turns his focus back on the lifestyle implications of the resurrection for the true Christian. The true Christian, he says, endures suffering with grace in light of the coming resurrection.
While the true Christian rejoices in the cross, and in the Christ of the cross, and in the resurrection triumph over the cross, this rejoicing takes shape in a holy and committed lifestyle. To this end, Paul makes two powerful statements in his text.
