This week and next, we would like to take a two-part glimpse at the book of Joshua, and examine many of the spiritual lessons that are revealed here for the child of God.
The book of Joshua is a book of conflict, or what we call the Canaan Conquest. This conflict was commanded by Almighty God- and he had promised that his own divine presence and overwhelming power would be with his people. But such a task for Israel was easier said than done, and accomplishing the will of God requires great faith and fortitude. Thus as we consider the book of Joshua we discover that Joshua and the people of Israel were human as we are, with strengths and weaknesses, but always learning to rely on the guiding and strengthening hand of God.
