Philippians 2:5-11 Paul challenges the Philippians to think about the needs of others in their faith community, even before they consider their own needs. The precedent for this kind of living was the life of Christ himself, who humbled himself on behalf of wicked men, and further humbled himself among wicked men. This humility was clearly revealed through the incarnation- Christ was in eternity of the same substance as the Father, but took upon himself the appearance of men. He did not merely resemble mankind, but was man himself, while remaining divinity. He was the unique and perfect God-man.
